New years is nearly here Yay!! the year may have gone past very fast but I still enjoyed the time I had with my friends back in Pt England I hope that the new year 8's come in better than how we did through out this year. No matter how different the day is you just Roll with it.I know that new year can be a day when somebody gives Birth or birthday there can be real struggle sometimes when it comes to special eccations but remember that no matter what you do or where you are you must have faith in yourself.
Secondly there can be people your worried about, people who your scared but remember this bible verse.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courages. Do not be afraid or terrified
because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will
never leave you nor forsake.

Being together!!
On Thursday year 7's had a fun trip to rainbow's end well year 8's stayed back and did some really fun activity's. Everything wasn't normal for year 8's and some of the school kids cause year 7's went to rainbow's end and year 6's went camping at Kawau Island. So the teachers said that we had to just roll with it. When the year 7's made their way to the buses we had some professional people come in with some clay and talked to us about what they do. But first of all, they told us their names and their favorite part of working as a professional clay person one of them says that their favorite part of working as a professional clay person is leaving working and going to work at schools and doing some really fun things with them. In the Middle block after morning tea, we had to try finish of our art for the end of the year. If you are wondering why we are doing Maori art patterns is because we year 8's are leaving very soon. We are going to be leaving intermediate and going to college but when we leave we have left behind some good memories for the school. After we did our artworks we packed up and put away all of our stuff getting ready for lunchtime. Then not long after lunchtime, we had some really cool games but then our teachers said that the year 7's were on their way back to school so we had to pack up and move back into our classes. It was a really fun being together but with just the year 8's. Thank you, teachers, for the effort that you put in just to make it fun for our year 8's I hope all of us enjoyed the day with you.
Don't Litter Rap
“Don’t Litter X3
Stop littering your rubbish
Or you’ll get trouble
There’s litter all around us
There's litter on the street
There's litter in the bushes
There's litter at your feet
You know where to stick it
Don’t throw it just bin it
Put your rubbish in the bin
Dropping litter is a sin
Now you know the drill
Do it and stay chill
Just Clean It x4
If you put your rubbish in
The bin there will be no
Problem
rubbish is dangerous
it can cause pollution
If you don’t want that
put your rubbish in
The bin

Adrienne- Inquiry Art / Kowhaiwhai Design
The artist I chose was the Suluape family they are famous for doing stuff like Pe'as(Tattoo) and Malu. They are so professional that they make sure that everything is perfect and also makes sure that all the lines are nice and straight. I bet you that most or nearly everybody trust people from the Suluape family for doing stuff like Malu's cause they are careful but also know what they are doing. I reckon that If was one of those girls who'd be dying to get a Malu at a young age I would be saving heaps of money just to get a Malu even tho it costs heaps of money. Many or some people celebrate after you get your malu or pe'a done.

DMIC Maths and Rotations
For the past weeks my maths class Rm3 has been doing DMIC. DMIC stands for Development Mathematical Inquiry Community. We have been doing this since the start of term 1. But in term 1 we had a different teacher so we had some changes we had a boys and a girls group normally everyday we would always switch and see who’s doing DMIC Maths and who’s doing Rotations.
What is Rotations?
Now I’ve already explained to you what DMIC is and now I’m going to explain to you what Rotations are. Rotations is what we do in class when you are not doing DMIC Maths with teachers. What we do for Rotations is DLO, Basic facts, or FIOP.
What is DLO, BASIC FACTS, AND FIOP?
If yous are wondering what DLO, BASIC FACTS, and FIOP is well I’m going to explain now.
No.1 DLO, DLO is what we call Hyperstudio once you get to year 7&8 the name will change and it will be a little different. DLO stands for Digital Learning Objects.
No.2 Basic facts, What is basic facts?...Basic facts is what you do if you can’t remember your Times table so then the teacher will tell you to learn it until you actually know them of by heart.
No.3 FIOP, What does FIOP stand for? FIOP stands for Finish it of properly our class always does FIOP our teacher always makes sure that all of our work has been upto date.
In our maths class we have a chart with all our names on it our teacher always makes sure that everyone is on the list and that nobody will miss out. So everyday my teacher will go on the random number generator and pick out who has to do their times tables. But there's only 1 rule and it is a very strict rule if you don’t learn your times tables and tell your teacher that you don’t know them you will be on Re-think.
What is rethink?
Rethink is what teachers in team 5 run it’s more like detention but you don’t really write down lines but you have to clean and rethink about what you did or why you didn’t do it.
So what do you say….Does your school do DMIC Maths or Rotations??
Read through my writing about DMIC Maths and Rotations and see if its a good idea for your school or not.

Film review Template
- Introduction
What’s more perfect than singing?Having fun on a road trip is amazing….The movie ‘Carpool Karaoke’ was made by room 23 and Ms King at Pt England School. It is a comedy movie which took place in a car.
- Summary of the story
Carpool karaoke is a movie that is based on music and dancing. It has all kinds of music like….GUCCI GANG. It has students and teachers dancing and singing to music. Our favourite song that we picked out was Boo’d up by Ella Mai. During the Carpool Karaoke Keyana couldn’t stop singing, dancing and having heaps of fun with all her friends and teachers. In the movie the main character(s) is Keyana she is the who sits on the driver's seat.
- Analysis of the plot/story elements
- What we noticed was that there were heaps of kids coming in and out of the and joining the fun. Some teachers were wanted to join some fun to so Keyana invited some teachers from DA BLOCK like...Mr Moran, Ms King, and Ms Moran.
- Creative elements used in the movie
The camera was standing on the dash and there were heaps of kids and teachers swaping in and out but there was only one person that stayed in the driver's seat.
- Your Opinion of the film
Carpool karaoke was an enthusiastic movie. In the movie we thought that there were very good expressions and good actions. Watching this movie really encouraged us to get up and have some fun. What’s your story about having a ‘Carpool Karaoke’ in your car?Or more like...
What would you do on a boring day?

CROSS COUNTRY DAY!!
YAY CROSS COUNTRY!! If you guessed that I just finished running, then your correct. Because it was week 8, which also meant that it was nearly cross country our school was getting ready for the day to come. But then the day was here on Friday the 21st of September 2018 our school had Cross Country it was a really exciting run but nervous for some people. Everyone were at the courts sitting at their year and gender groups.
When everybody was settled we got the prefects and house captains up but first of all we did Mihi and Karakia(Prayer). Mr Burt stood in the front of everyone and spoke for a few minutes. Then Ms V, our school sport teacher spoke for a few minutes too, about what we should be doing but my year didn’t really need a reminder it might have just been for the year 1 to 4. After a few minutes, we started getting up the kids and when the years 1 to 4 finished everyone from years 5 to 8 got to move up and see a better view.
At the end of the race I was really proud of myself because I tried my personal best even though I didn’t come the places I was hoping to come I thought that it wasn’t really about coming 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. But then I found out that it was all about trying.

TEAM 5 PERFORMANCES
Today was a special day for teams 5 and 3 my team. Team 5 had a performance for every class my class was 2nd to last which was room 3, it was actually kind of a nervous performance for my group in my group we wore Ie lavalava, Sei(Flower), school top, we decided to wear these for a reason we wore this because Our school represents our school, our lavalava represents our culture, and our sei(flower) represents our family at the end or during the dance it was actually pretty fun. I was proud of my group because they put heaps of effort to our dance that we were learning for the few weeks. The whole team might have been nervous to dance but still we kept going and none of us gave up. I hope that next time when we do these performance we are used to it and no one in the block is shy.

Malo e lelei it TONGAN LANGUAGE WEEK! Today was a very special day for our school why I said special day was because we had 2 different Tongan groups perform at our school today. Team 5 was so glad to see the audience having fun.
Our theme for tongan language week was…
“FAKAKOLOA O AOTEAROA AKI A E OFA FONUA”

This terms theme is "Move ya body" and my class has been doing show don't tell this week my group Waititi has been out learning how to unicycle but finally got to stay inside class to catch up on some writing and finally I managed to catch up to do this presentation and this presentation is about some athletes and we got to pick a athlete to write about and my athlete was Yohan Blake the reason to why I picked him was because we couldn't pick Usain Bolt cause my teacher knew that we would know a lot of information about Usain Bolt. Please read my paragraph about Yohan Blake and leave a comment for what I need to do better and what I need to fix on my paragraph.

EXPO
EXPO
Team five decided to do an EXPO to show to Pt England School. The reason why is because we needed to teach the younger students about Force and Motion. Teaching makes you a better learner.
Our group had more than two ideas, our first idea was to do a catapult, another idea we had in mind was to do an egg in the water experiment.
For our project we wanted to do the egg in the water experiment. The reason why we wanted to do this experiment was because it looked fun, and we wanted to test it out, and that it concludes Force & Motion.
Our group failed because we didn’t have the equipment. But we really wanted to do the EXPO with the other Yr 7 & 8 so hopefully we can do it next time.
When we have another EXPO our group should have the right equipment, and to be ready to present what we have learned to the Pt England Students.

Frictions
w
This activity is about friction this from this presentation we have learnt that friction helps us at times and sometimes doesn't help us.
I have learnt that friction means Friction occurs two or more object rub together.
How friction helps us is our fingerprints create a friction when we pick up an object.

A letter to Pak N Save
130 Pt england Road
Pt England
Glen Innes
Date: 8 of March.
Kia ora pak N save,
My name is Adrienne and I am a year 8 student at pt england school. My classroom is wondering when plastic bags are going to stop. Our class think that it is not safe for our birds because then if birds see that it’s lying around then birds will think it's actually food but really it's not. So we reckon that we should stop giving away plastic bags and instead of plastic bags we should start using boxes or just using trolleys instead. And they are also killing our native animals.
Yours sincerely,
Adrienne.L

Saving Poorman's Stream
So today at school we were learning about people throwing rubbish into other peoples creek it is not a good idea to throw rubbish into creeks that you don't own or if you are going to throw rubbish in some one else's creek then you have to pick it back up it not fair for other people to pick up after you.
